Cummins SA is headquartered in Kelvin, Johannesburg but also has branch locations in Alrode, Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, Richards Bay and Port Elizabeth. With the vast expansion and development in Africa, Cummins SA was awarded regional responsibility in 2001 and has subsidiary companies in Botswana (Gaborone), Zambia (Ndola) and Zimbabwe (Harare). To further strengthen market support and regional presence, Cummins has approved dealers in Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Swaziland and Zambia.
Cummins’ activities include parts warehousing and distribution, engineering and technical groups, and sales and marketing operations. These operations and functions support market leadership in the diesel business through the South African region.

Purpose

Depending on which department you are placed at, responsibilities will range between the following:

TECHNICAL SALES

· Develop technical expertise as it relates to Cummins Products and Applications
· Develop good target customer knowledge and build key relationships.
· Understand competitive landscape.
· Understand and develop sound knowledge of mine contract processes procedures, contractual content and KPI and resultant rings of growth.
·
SALES ADMINISTRATION
· Track and manage the A&P budget.
· Assist with the compilation and distribution of monthly sales analysis reports.
· Dispatch and track customer communications. Keep customer database up to date.
· Run weekly Siebel reports
· Sales Analysis and reporting.
· Coordination of our Extended Coverage Program
·

MARKETING
· Collect and edit newsworthy stories for the monthly ABO Newsletter.
· Manage, order, dispatch and replenish promotional items
· Ensure distribution of Marketing collateral to customers throughout Africa.
· Market Research involvement
· Raising purchasing order, assisting the marketing team, supply engagement and corporate clothing management.
· To support distribution and marketing initiatives

Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Strategy, Communications, or related field.
Relevant experience a plus

Purpose

The Trainee Sales Representative is a development position toward an Account Manager position. In their training period they will be responsible for allocated customers and for the completion of their PAT Project. Their placement into an Account Manager will be subject to vacancies being available.
Achieve pre-determined sales/brands and market share targets;
Influence liquor retail pricing within segments;
Maintain stock levels within segments;
Service outlets;
Develop sound business relationships;
Maintain customer call rate as per SAB tailored service packages sector;
Conduct regular account reviews;
Provide merchandising support;
Handle Customer and Consumer complaints and queries;
Manage product quality in relation to SAB quality standards;
Manage sales administration;
Compile daily / weekly reports;
Determine pre-call planning objectives;
Manage B.T.L. placements;
Conduct personal sec audits;
Develop sound customer relationships

Qualification

Minimum relevant 3 year tertiary qualification;
Valid Code 8 drivers license # unendorsed;
No alcohol related health problems;
Basic knowledge of PC;
Persuasiveness and well developed selling ability;
Excellent verbal ability and communication skills.
Sound interpersonal skills, creativity and ability to mix with other people.
Ability to manage self and territory;
Strong achievement orientation;
Potential to become an Account Manager in the future.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management: You are the face of Unilever to our key retail and wholesale customers. You will work on joint customer business planning that will deliver profitable growth for our retailers and for Unilever.
Category Management: Consolidate and drive category growth eg. laundry, dry foods through the execution of relevant activities (activations) and innovation. You will manage the trade budgets for the brands in your category to drive growth, provide input to Supply Chain in terms of demand on brands and with finance to ensure category profitability. You will also work closely with marketing to deliver innovation activity into the trade that drives growth.
Customer Marketing: Allows you to work strategically with key retailers and wholesalers to create joint marketing campaigns that help grow both our businesses.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in any commercial discipline. We have a preference for BCom, BBS, BSocSc.
