Ford Motor Company, a global automotive industry leader based in Dearborn, Mich., manufactures or distributes automobiles across six continents. With about 159,000 employees and about 70 plants worldwide, the company’s automotive brands include Ford, Lincoln and Mercury, production of which has been announced by the company to be ending in the fourth quarter of 2010. The company provides financial services through Ford Motor Credit Company.

Purpose

Smooth production at all Silverton Assembly Plant – ensuring suppliers ship parts, build a robust supply chain and inventory management system.
Work globally and cross-functionally to provide SCM/SMRT business process convergence.
Lead metric and process driven SCM/SMRT reviews to continually improvement department deliverable performance.
Develop resource planning models and share resources across the organization to support the global cycle/business plan
Plan for and develop future skill set and training to meet future challenges.
Lead supply chain/SMRT activities through having communication with carriers, network logistics team, capacity constraints and plant MP&L operations.
Manage inventory and part resourcing processes.
Ensure that there are no line stoppages at plant due to non-availability of import and domestic parts.
Ensure overall reduction in the premium freight targets for plant.
Co-ordinate Holiday contingency plans, shut downs, strikes etc with suppliers and customers to develop alternate plans to tackle potential issues.
Train and develop suppliers to establish a robust material management process using MMOG as a tool, develop suppliers toward MMOG/LE level A (MMOG/LE: Materials Management Operations Guide/Logistics Evaluation), conduct on-site assessment/validation.
Monitor and improve supplier’s delivery performance to Ford. Analyze supplier’s delivery issues, identify and implement delivery improvement actions with suppliers.

Qualification

Degree in Industrial Engineering, Purchasing and Supply Chain Management or Finance
Recommended Minimum 7-10 years experience in the MP&L and Purchasing areas
SCM/SMRT, Purchasing and Capacity constraints functional knowledge and experience.
Ability to effectively build relationships and teamwork both globally and cross-functionally.
Embrace empowerment, facilitate common global processes and be a strong advocate for training and skills enhancement
