Eskom generates approximately 95% of the electricity used in South Africa and approximately 45% of the electricity used in Africa. Eskom generates, transmits and distributes electricity to industrial, mining, commercial, agricultural and residential customers and redistributors. Additional power stations and major power lines are being built to meet rising electricity demand in South Africa. Eskom will continue to focus on improving and strengthening its core business of electricity generation, transmission, trading and distribution.
Purpose
Drives heavy duty truck and operates equipment by:
Driving heavy duty truck and operate haulage equipment(crane)
Performing pre-trip inspections
Following safe working procedures
Ensuring a quality result of applying the equipment in terms of production and technical quality.
Loads and offloads materials by:
Operating loading and offloading equipment
Loading and offloading of materials
Ensures load is evenly distributed
Checking of loaded material against the invoice
Ensuring that loaded items delivered at the right place
Getting signatures and acceptance of offloaded inventory
Performs administration duties by:
Completing Daily Labour Returns (DLR`s) and trip / time sheets for equipment
Recording production
Completing incident reports
Monitoring, recording and arranging equipment repairs and services in conjunction with supervisor
Ensures safety and control practice by:
Adhering to safety requirements as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and SRM procedures
Safely manoeuvring vehicle in confined space
Identifying obstacles in traveling off road conditions and confined spaces
Ensuring safe loading and offloading of materials
Using proper personal protective equipment
Ensuring that tools and equipment are stored correctly in a safe place
Maintains equipment and vehicle by:
Inspecting, cleaning and executing first line maintenance on equipment
Ensuring that vehicle, tools and equipment are in good working order
Keeping vehicle in clean condition
Inspecting, writing down defects and reporting them
Performing emergency procedure during vehicle breakdown
Qualification
Std 10 or equivalent
2 years experience
Code 10 license or Code 14 license
Certification of competency to operate
Relevant equipment
Certificate of fitness Basic mechanical
Understand safety regulations
